Ok, I decided to take some time out and translate the PDF File in English. Hope this will further explain the rules properly.

Cheers,
Asher

Hi Edlogic,

Yes I got one private message from you but not the other one. BTW, to answer your question, yes ichi360.com is my web blog.

I'm not sure whats wrong but the latest version of EA doesnt seem to be doing anything on my setup while the previous versions such as TEST2 is working alright but the problem with that version is that it opens multiple trades everytime the price penetrates with the COG lines.

Any idea why new version isnt working ?

weird - one of the pm ' s is stuck in the outbox and i don't know what to do

anyway - i guess you have version .31 ? that is test31 ?

it shouldn't be opening more than one at a time but i think that if it is already above or below the farthest cog lines then it may open more than one for each line that it is beyond the center - i need to put a flag for testing if it was previously below the cog line first - then before it opens a trade it will only do it if that flag was set -

thanks ! you found a bug that i completely overlooked !

i have to do more tests to find out
it still needs a lot more work - i have only been working on it for a week or two

after thinking about the cog ea for a couple of days now i am understanding that it lacks a good way to decide when NOT to take a trade
so the next few days or so - that is all i am going to concentrate on

make sure you have version .31
i might upload version .33 today sometime
just has some more tweaks and a couple more options

Hi Edlogic,

I'll be looking forward to your next version with fixed stuff.

In terms of when NOT to open trades, I think I can share insights on it as I've basically spent around 12 months time on this system now and understand the basics of it. You'll be surprised to know that its all about recognizing the COG Patterns at the end of the day and there are a lots of Patterns which are sure shots for Trend Reversals and the other patterns are nothing but actually a Trend Continuation Patterns in which one should avoid opening Counter-Trend Trades.

I've added you to my Skype and would love to share my experiences, I'm sure this EA has a lot of potential to turn into a Profitable system.

Thanks once again,
Asher

thank for your interest and i look forward to your input - just the experience for which i have been looking .
here is the latest version - i did not get to do much work on it lately - hopefully this weekend i will get some stuff done

one major problem that i noticed is that when there is a long strong trend - it whacks the cog lines so spread out that regular 20 or 30 pip moves don't even touch the inner cog lines - in those cases i was able to set the number of bars down to 90 and get the cog lines closer together but it radically changes the trends in most cases

so i definitely see a need to normalize the cog lines somehow to make sure the price moves are in play on the lines somewhere when there is at least a 20 pip spread between high and lows -

one thing i added to this version is an option for it to not trade if the high low spread of the cog lines are above or below set
values

i also added 2 more trail stop schemes - they are based on the high low spread of the cog lines - more and more i am thinking that is the best way to do it

one other thing that i have been thinking about for a while - but just haven't coded it yet - is to make the stop loss wait until about 5 pips before the price gets to the target - at that time - move the target 5 pips farther and put a stop loss 5 pips behind the price - that will give 10 pips protection from original target but if the price continues good then maybe more than original target can be achieved occassionally

useMaxMinSpanLimits - if true then trades will not be made if the high low cog pip span is above the max or below the min
maxHighLowSpan - max pip span for cog lines
minHighLowSpan - min pip span for cog lines
useHalfSpanTrailStopLoss - something i started but not done correctly yet

here is version .33

version .34

changed the 4th stop loss scheme to us a percentage of the full span
took off the 5th stop loss scheme

these are the two variable for the stop loss percentage - this number is multiplied by the full span pips value
stopLossFullSpanPercent = 0.75; - set for stop loss to be 75 percent of full span
takeProfitFullSpanPercent = 0.45; set for take profit to be 45 percent of full span

hey, thought I'd chime in as a first time poster but not a first time trader. me and a another trader who is a programmer may have successfully programmed an EA out of this. I won't show the code here but I can point you in the right direction:

1. make sure that the setting for your COG lines are from the template in the article and make sure they're non adjustable
2. don't use the rule for entering a second trade.
3. only use the first 4 hours of the new York session.
4. make sure that price is coming from above for a buy/below for a sell
5. this is really important. follow the initial entry rules EXACTLY. meaning that do not enter a trade when the price passed the COG centerline. that is a little too late. the original rules clearly state that you can only enter a sell when the COG is pointing down and price is still above the centerline and for a buy the lines are pointing up and price is below the COG when the sweetspots is hit

here are my stats for today. still needs work:

good luck to you all!
